mindful movement, awareful being
We are a co-operative teacher-run center, with a range of healing classes taught by experienced teachers. We aim to help you to cultivate awareness on all levels of your being, through practices and teachings that work with principles of movement, stillness and everything in between. We invite you to explore our class schedule and teacher bios. While you may want to "shop around", ultimately we recommend that you find the practice or teacher that is most effective for you right now, and dig a deep well to cultivate ever-expanding healing, transformation and awareness on all levels.
We offer a range of classes, with a focus on Therapeutic Yoga and Healing Classes. We are a hub of Spinal Release Yoga (Svaroopa® Yoga) in the Bay Area. We are the only studio in the East Bay specializing in group classes and yoga therapy sessions in this unique and effective approach. Read an interview about this Yoga with our center director.
Local yoga, meditation and movement teachers can check out Rental Info and contact us to share your skill here in weekly classes or a weekend workshop.
Emeryville Yoga & Wellness is at 1240 Powell Street (parking and entrance on Vallejo). Our nurturing and serene environment is in a health-concious building shared with Emeryville Health & Wellness Center, Studio 74 Pilates and Namaste Fitness.
At Emeryville Yoga prices vary according to the length of the class and the teachers' policy. Students engage in a direct relationship with the teachers, which includes the financial aspect of the relationship... this means that there is no "studio cut", allowing us to keep our classes affordable, and allowing teachers to earn a fair wage from their skill. Visit the Classes Page to see rates. Our teachers believe that no one should be denied yoga due to financial limits, so please ask about financial aid.
Visit our Schedule Page and read our Teacher Bios and Class Descriptions.
Give a loved one (or treat yourself) to a Bliss Certificate...in time for the holidays and New Year's resolutions. Bliss Certificates can be for Spinal Release Yoga classes or Yoga Therapy at Emeryville Yoga. Purchase below. Time to Wash Blankets
Every year we wash all the blankets in the center. This year, we are offering you a free class if you wash 5 or more blankets. Students who wash 10 or more blankets will enter a raffle to win a free Embodyment, Yoga Therapy or Home Practice Tutorial with the teacher of your choice.
Wash in COLD water cycle in a machine. One blanket will fit in a home machine, more in a commercial size. HANG dry. Do not use a dryer, even on “no heat”. They dry in about a day. If you have an outdoor space, hang them outside. Indoor, hang them over a door. If you have pets, please keep them away from the blankets. Any heat in your washer or dryer will shrink the blanket, and we will ask that you replace it (they cost about $20). When you return the blankets, put them in the pile in the yoga room, not the prop room, and we will tie a ribbon on the end.
